ANNE B. ANNOTATION

Anne Bradstreet wasn't very confident about her work. In her introduction to her book "The Author to Her Book" she states that her lyrics are "ill-formed" or crazy. She also explains that her rhymes have flaws but, you can judge her. However, her lyrics are her, and she's a person with flaws. Even though she tried to correct her "wrongs" the flaws are still there and there's nothing she can do about it. So you can judge, you were going to do it any way. Her words are her life, she lives in her mind, which is a place where you can go, but know nothing about. So, beware of what she say.

In one of her verses "Before the Birth of One of Her Children" she seems as if she's suicidal. She reveals that she has no friends that are nice, but she wished that death was there next to her. She waits asking "How soon?", because one of her friends has died. However she realizes that people die for a reason, and that the death of her friend caused the birth of her child. She states " And when thy loss shall be repaid with gains, Look to my little babes, my dear remains." Which means that when something bad happens, it happens for a reason. It also explains how she has accepted the death of her friend.

Anne Bradstreet declares her love for her husband in her poem entitled "To My dear and Loving Husband." She describe how happy she is with him, and that nothing can compare to him. Not even gold, or the riches that the East has can beat her happiness. Nor the the rivers can quench her like her love. Which explains how much she is willing to sacrafice just for her love. She hopes and believes that when everything is said and done, there love will live on forever. Even if there not living...
